I think the hardest aspect of Christmas shopping is finding the perfect matching gift for the person you have in mind. I mean, it obviously differs from person to person, but at least we can shove these awkward so and so's into categories to narrow it down a bit, eh?
Here I've targeted the most awkward of them all. Yes, I'm sorry ladies, but it is us. Pedantic, vein, and downright picky, never mind at Christmas! But seriously, if you're buying for a woman it's best to know where to start, even if you are one yourself.
Whether it's for your mother, your daughter, auntie, gran, or cousin, buying for any woman is possibly the hardest target during the festive flap.
If you approach the situation with care and due thought however, it's not too dissimilar from any other gift hunt; just put yourself in that person's shoes, map out their personality and think about what would suit them. After all, gift buying is all about the gasping reaction of joy as the paper gets ripped back, so there's no point buying Grandma Agnes a pair of rollerblades in order for her to obtain yet another plastic hip.
Pampering is a very important factor to gift buying of the female nature. Scents, oils, candles, heat pads, days out at the spa, are all great examples of relaxation and pampering that work perfectly at Christmas. Winter clothing such as scarves, hats, and gloves are a nice idea as they are practical and serve a purpose for the time of year, and they come in a vast variety of styles for all age groups. If you are brave enough to hazard a guess at a woman's taste in jewelry then here's your answer. A lot of festively stylized ideas can look tacky however, so keep it simple, and perhaps go the extra mile to get the item personalized.
Whatever your choice just remember to not over think, keep your ideas simple, but make it interesting and personal. Shopping should never be stressful, least of all for women.
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
